Nicaragua here I come!

Well, it's off to Nicaragua this Saturday for my 5th missions trip. I'm really excited about this trip because my 80 year mother will be going with our team. She is a librarian in San Antonio,TX and will connect in Houston. She and I are establishing the first lending library in the Managua area. Unfortuantely, in Nicaragua if you don't have a uniform you don't attend school. If you have a uniform and are lucky enough to live in a town or city that has a library, you can only read the books in the library! Lending library is a foreign concept. Only professionals...doctors, lawyers, teachers, college students can use the library but cannot check out books! So with God's help, we plan to change that one community at a time. During our mission trip we plan to set up a mobile library on the construction site and register patrons, pass out library cards, explain the concept and have a reading circle each day! Kids and books...my kind of fun.

I'll keep you posted. If you have access to Spanish books, we would gladly accept them as a donation to the library. Spread the word as we try to bring hope and education to an unforgotten group of people who could be the next leaders in Nicaragua! It's hard to imagine that some of these children and adults have never seen a book.
love and prayers,
Mary Ann

Here are few photos from my
last trip to
Nicaragua.
Hello my friends. Here's my attempt to enter the world in cyper-journaling. My desire is to share some thoughts and photos of trips I've taken. I teach a Sunday School class of 9 and 10 year old girls and this would be a neat way to share they could share in my adventures. Okey,Dokey!
